Recently, Grab Singapore engaged I and my team to do a commercial photography shoot with my photography production house and COCO Creative Studio.
Pre-production of the commercial photoshoot
Our task was to produce forty shots of Grabbers at work in forty different situations at the Grab Headquarters.
We immediately began working on the brief – we first did a pre-photo shoot recce and took pictures of multiple locations around the office space. It was a lot of fun exploring the space – it was so huge and beautiful!
With our recce pictures, we then narrowed down all the best spots for the commercial photoshoot. We also decided on the props and models needed for the actual photoshoot.
Production/ Photography shoot day
The commercial photoshoot at Grab took place for two days. I had two assistants, Mezame and Matteo, who helped with the lighting and handling of the logistics.
Our aim was to do twenty location shoots in only a day. From having to arrange the scene’s layout to waiting for the availability of both the rooms and the people, we ran on quite a tight schedule! Although we did not manage to shoot at all forty locations, we still managed to produce some good images given the time and space constraints. I’m so honored to have been able to work with the Grab team and my team – they did such a brilliant job!
For the production, I used:
– My FUJIFILM GFX 50R digital medium camera for various lenses as GF 23mm, GF 45mm, GF 63mm, GF 110mm, and GF 32-64mm.
– 4 Flashes: 2 x Godox 600 + 2 x Godox 200 with various modifier.
– Reflectors, a large black fabric to remove the reflection in the various glass window in the office and they were a lot of them.
-Capture One on Mezame’s MacBook Pro (shout-out to Mezame, who’s an expert with Capture One!)
On a side note, I recently invested in the Aputure 300 Mark II, powerful continuous light for video production. If I get a similar opportunity for a commercial or corporate photoshoot, I’ll definitely bring along my Aputure continuous light to enhance the ambient light for each scene.
Post-production / editing photos
I did the post-production for the selected images at COCO Creative Studio, where we provide editing and retouching services.
Using a calibrated BenQ monitor for post-production, my goal was to produce images that were clean with a warm tone.
