This Polar Grit X Review Rounds Up Some of the Best Features of the new Polar Grit X Outdoor Multisport Watch
After a few months of using the Polar Grit X, I’m very pleased to share my Polar Grit X review.
Finding the watch that fits me perfectly isn’t easy as I’m very particular about my fitness watches. Fortunately, the Polar Grit X has far exceeded my expectations! While I don’t train as much as before due to my busy schedule with my photography and videography projects, I still aim to stay active. The Polar Grit X has been such a motivational companion during my fitness journey.
The Design of the Polar Grit X
The design of the Polar Grit X was the first aspect of the watch which caught my attention. I really like its robust style and timeless design. Its classic black body (my favourite colour!) adds a stylish touch to my everyday look as I go about my daily routine, from physical activities to embarking on commercial photography projects. I like the shape of the button and the feeling of it.
(Of course, there are other colours available for you to take your pick!)
Polar’s tagline for the watch is “Power Through Anything” – It’s easy to understand why!
The Polar Grit X has passed several MIL-STD-810G tests. This means that it can withstand extreme drops, temperatures and humidity levels, which makes it perfect for rigorous activities in Singapore’s hot and humid weather.
Despite its military-level durability, it’s surprisingly very light! Weighing only sixty-four grams, it’s one of the lightest outdoor multisport watches in the market. The wristband is also made of durable silicone, so the Polar Grit X sits on my wrist comfortably. This makes the watch even more ideal for my everyday use.
Features of the Polar Grit X: What I Love
Polar Flow App
The Polar Grit X syncs easily with my phone via the Polar Flow App. With the Power Flow App, I can track all my activities, sleeping and recovery data. I can even plan my trainings in detail to stay on track with my fitness regime.
This is one of my favourite features of the Polar Grit X. The weather forecast feature is helpful for both training and work-related activities. From the last sync, I have at hand two days of forecasts with hourly reports on the temperature, rain, wind speed and distance, and humidity levels.
Based on my training plan, the watch acts as a nutrition guide to remind me when I have to fuel up. This comes in handy, ensuring that I reach my optimum nutrition and hydration goals despite my busy schedule.
2. Hill Splitter™
The watch automatically detects when you’re ascending or descending a trail, and your respective distance, speed and heart rate. I’ll be honest here – I’ve only been running on flat terrain in East Coast Park, Singapore. Nevertheless, I’ll be sure to test this exciting feature out once the circuit breaker ends!
3. Route Guidance by Komoot
With the third-party service Komoot (https://www.komoot.com), I can source for a diverse range of routes and get turn-by-turn guidance. This adds some novelty to my exercise routine as I get to explore some off the beaten path routes.
4. Nightly Recharge™
This is not a feature that I use often because my sleep cycle is extremely inconsistent. That said, the Nightly Recharge feature offers tailored tips and specific data for people who’d like to improve their sleep quality.
The Polar Grit X’s Ultra-Long Battery Life
This is such an important feature to me! Often, it’s so frustrating whenever I’m all geared up for my exercise routine, only to find that my sports watch does not have enough battery.
The Polar Grit X has a battery capacity of up to forty hours of continuous training time (with GPS and wrist-based heart rate tracking enabled), or up to seven days of battery life in watch mode (with continuous heart rate tracking).
During the time I’ve been using the Polar Grit X, I usually only charge my watch once a week, and it’s saved me so much effort! Now, I know that if I ever sign up for ultra-endurance races, the Polar Grit X wouldn’t fail me.
My Concluding Remarks on the Polar Grit X
The Polar Grit X has everything I need in a sports watch – from its classy design, extensive features and long battery life, it’s safe to say that I’m a satisfied user!
Unfortunately, due to the current situation, I didn’t have the opportunity to test the Polar Grit X’s functionality in swimming pools or other hilly terrains. After the pandemic blows over, I can’t wait to continue using my the Polar Grit X, and even take it with me on my travel photography projects. With the watch’s durability, I’ll be sure to travel with the Polar Grit X with a peace of mind!
