FUJIFILM GFX 100S – Review
The FUJIFILM GFX 100S is a medium format camera with 102 mega pixels. It is not much larger than full frame cameras, making it easy to travel with and shoot on location. Whereas, earlier one would find these cameras mainly being used in studios. It offers high quality photographs, a great dynamic range, phases detection and subject tracking and also performs well in low light conditions.
With a medium format camera becoming more accessible with this size, professional photographers can now easily use this format for travel photography.
Build quality –
The GFX 100S is made of magnesium alloy and is a very compact and light weight body. It is weather resistant, allowing one to shoot in temperatures upto -10ºC. The camera is moisture resistant and also allows protection from dust.
The camera has a mode/status OLED on the top plate which can be seen in low light and darker conditions. This feature in FUJIFILM cameras is very useful whereas in most other cameras one would require ambient lighting to see this display. The LCD Monitor tilts in there directions. Thereby, making it easier to photograph from different perspectives.
Comparison to the GFX 100 –
In comparison to the GFX 100 it has a much smaller body and is lightweight. Hence, making it easier to carry around. It also has many new features and a redesigned body. The battery grip is different – the vertical grip battery is not included. This makes the GFX 100S lighter, portable and more accessible.
The PASM mode dial makes it easy to switch from different functions and also includes the custom mode C1-C6 options. You can also easily switch from still to movie mode with the button placed right near the PASM dial.
An important feature is the In-body image stabilisation – the GFX 100S has an extra stop of stabilisation compared to the GFX 100, with most GF lenses.

Other features of the GFX 100S –
The FUJIFILM GFX 100S provides various image effects. Such as, the Colour Chrome Effect which results in saturated colours, Smooth Skin Effect which makes the skin tones smooth specially for portraits and headshots.
The bokeh effect is impeccable. Therefore, shooting portraits with the GFX 100S is a very good choice. The background separation from the subject is great, resulting in making the subject sharp and in focus while the background appears soft and pleasant.
For colour grading your video footage you can shoot in F-log or 12-bit Apple ProRes RAW.

Thereby, allowing you to capture every moment. You can use it without a tripod achieving almost the same results as when the camera would be placed on one. Resulting in sharp images with great detail. It is a game changer as the price is affordable for a medium format camera.
